BIO

Nicknamed "zizy" by her dad, Marize(her real name) was born in Mozambique in 1974. Her parents being originally from Cape Verde (Africa), decided to move to Portugal in 1975, where zizy since the tender age of 11 months as lived ever since. Throughout her whole life, music has been her main passion and has always been part of her life. She started off singing in little music contests here and there where her voice never failed to impress the croud.For several years she took part in the school coir at the sch, while taking part in a singing contest, she met up with two musicians from Angola called "Os Kem Boys" who at the time were looking for a female vocalist to then form a new band.This is how zizy got her first break as the lead singer of a new band called "MESCLA", kick-starting their first musical assignment by signing a record deal with a Netherland record company called Kings Records. Their first studio recorded single entitled "State Of Grace" featured well known artists such as SUSANNA LUBRANO, ROGER, LURA, JOHNNY and MARLENE FONSECA, DABS, JORGE DO ROSARIO, and many others. After a while, even though they had a strong relationship based on their talent and friendship, MESCLA decided to go on separate ways.But thanks to their well known and recognized strong musical background, it's not long before zizy gets lots of invitations to perform in many live concerts regularly as well as working and participating in projects alongside a variety of well known artists(national and from PALOPS), like TITO PARIS, DON KIKAS, NANCY VIEIRA, PAULO FLORES, HEAVY C, PÉROLA, YURI DA CUNHA, BONGA, GIL, BETO DIAS, CARLOS BURITY, IRMAOS VERDADE, GRACE EVORA, MANECAS COSTA, DANIEL NASCIMENTO, JAY, ANDRE SARDET, GILYTO SEMEDO, BELITO CAMPOS, SHOUT, and many, many others. A new turn of events was approaching and zizy started writing and composing songs and therefore challenging herself with having part in the production of "Sentimentos Criolinhas and Perolas D'Africa", having written the lyrics on "Lembranca", "E SO KELA", "MI KA KRE MAS", many others. After this she received a special invitation from VIDISCO record company where she then performed duets with musicians such as GABY FERNANDES (lead singer of "Irmaos Verdades") and JUCA.She then lends her voice to children humanita, GILYTO, MICAS CABRAL, DANIEL NACIMENTO. In the near future, a solo album is what's expected next from this young star with such a sweet and sexy voice (like some of her friends would say) as she's proved to be one of the most promising and revealing new artists of her generation. you go girl!
